What’s going on this week on Indie Empire?
You’ve probably heard us talking about Indie Empire, our online film networking and education platform, where we’re trying to bring good vibes and supportive energy to the film industry. But… what is Indie Empire, exactly? Like, what goes on over there?
Good question. Let me walk you through one aspect of Indie Empire that we’re really excited about: The live classes.
Here’s a quick three week snapshot of our live class offerings. As you can see, we have quite a range of things! Classes range from groups meant to support artists building their career (like the writer support group, where we workshop ideas, and the Self Tape Club, where actors submit self tapes for feedback from industry professionals) to the lecture and discussion style classes that cover a range of topics (introduction to production sound, how to survive on set, prewriting and outlining strategies… the list goes on.)
We also have community events, like movie nights and networking events, and of course our Save The Cat book club, where we read and discuss Blake Snyder’s words of wisdom together. And that’s not to mention Raven’s weekly Office Hours, where you have the opportunity to ask a veteran filmmaker any and all of your burning questions, or chat about any topic that’s on your mind! Basically, whatever you’re looking for on Indie Empire; community, education, connection, or help, we’ve got you covered.
The other great news is that if you can’t make it to any of these classes, we record the majority of them and upload them to our ever expanding class library, so you can revisit at any time! Current classes in the library include How to read a call sheet, How to craft your logline, Audition techniques, and Audio accessibility… just to name a few!
