I thought LUTs would be a quick and easy fix to my color-grade confusion, but I only ever found a handful that were useful. After years, and hundreds of dollars, trying various video preset packs that promised to be the last LUT pack I’d ever buy, I realized I needed to make my own. I hit the books (well, Youtube videos) and sharpened my own color skills. After a few years I realized I was creating a lot of the same looks over and over again for different projects, so I turned them into a few of my own LUTs to make my own life easier. Even though my colors are kind of like my babies… my colleagues convinced me that sharing these looks could help out other filmmakers like me. If I could go back in time, and give myself these LUTs I would. It would have saved me a lot of time, stress, and let’s be real…a few tears. I hope these are helpful to you.
